Burlington Public School Weekly Update November 19, 2021

Good Evening,

We want to thank and recognize all of our Elementary Support Personnel. This week is dedicated to their service. We could not accomplish all that we do without our instructional assistants, tutors, and aides. Thank you for all of your efforts on behalf of Burlington children.

Covid Update
Like the state which reported over 3,000 new cases of Covid yesterday, We have seen an uptick in COVID cases this week with 12. This is the highest single week total we have seen to date, so with this in mind we are continuing to monitor the situation carefully and hope to see the number of cases level off as more students get vaccinated.

With the rise in cases, it is important that families continue to check in with students before school each day and to keep them home if they are not feeling well. With this in mind, we are including updated information regarding changes to our Daily Symptom Screener. The biggest change is that a runny nose/congestion as a single symptom no longer requires a Covid test. To review the revised Symptom Screener, please check the link in the transcript of the update. As always, please address any questions to [email protected].

Middle School
We have been responding all week to support students, staff and families impacted by the presence of anti-Semetic graffiti at the middle school. We strongly condemn any actions, speech or vandalism that violates our commitment to expanding equity and opportunity for all students in Burlington Public Schools.

Let’s Talk About It
We held our second Let’s Talk About It session around the topics of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion facilitated by our Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Ray Porch. We had more than 50 people attend this week’s session and we are looking forward to our next session from 7-8:30 p.m. on January 12. If you are interested in attending, please see the registration form in the transcript of this video.

Lets Talk About It : Registration Form

This is our last weekly update prior to Thanksgiving. We wish all of our faculty and staff, families, and students a joyous holiday. We all have so much to be grateful for. Please take time over Thanksgiving with those with whom you are closest.

We are rekindling our Thanksgiving rivalry with Bedford this year after many decades. While we wish everyone a great holiday, we hope that Burlington restarts this new tradition with a win.

Have a great weekend!
