Dear Fox Hill Families,

Welcome back to an exciting new school year! I hope you all have had a wonderful summer and were able to find some time to relax and recharge. For me, this has been a restful summer although it feels as though these last few weeks of summer have flown by. We have been hard at work here at Fox Hill, getting classrooms and the building ready for the return of all our Fox Hill Friends next week. Our community is especially excited to move towards a return to normalcy this school year. This will include the return of many favorite events and traditions here at Fox Hill which have been impacted due to the Covid-19 pandemic. As always, I look forward to partnering with you to make your child’s educational experience at Fox Hill successful.

I have some important information to share with you for the upcoming school year.

First Day of School for Students
Grades 1-5 will be on Monday, August 29th.
Kindergarten will be on Tuesday, September 6th.

School Hours
Arrival- 7:55am-8:10am
School Day- 8:10am-2:15pm
Dismissal-2:15pm
Students arriving after 8:10am will be considered tardy.

Arrival/Dismissal
Cars: Our arrival and dismissal process is remaining the same as it was last year. In the morning, if you are dropping off your child by car, when you pull into the school please enter the access road which will be on your right. Follow the road all the way to the end, where a staff member will help your child get out of the car. Children will then walk into the front door of the building. If it is after 8:10 am, please park in the lot and walk your child to the front door. For dismissal, please use the same access road and pull up to the side recess doors. Children from all grades will be waiting there. To move the flow of traffic, please stay in your car during both arrival and dismissal. A staff member will be there to help your child into or out of your vehicle.

Bus: Bus routes will be available very soon. The routes and times will be posted on the Burlington Public Schools website and emailed out from the Fox Hill office. Buses will drop students off at the front entrance of Fox Hill, and students will enter the building through the front doors. In order to keep all students safe, cars are not allowed in the bus lane during arrival and dismissal.

Walking/Biking: Students are encouraged to walk or bike to school. We have two bicycle racks in the front of the building for students to use. Please bring a lock if you are planning to use the bicycle rack.

Lunch
The universal free school lunch program will continue for the 2022/2023 school year and is available to all students. The school lunch menu can be found on the Burlington Public Schools website. For more information about the free school lunch program, please see the attached letter.

PTO
We are grateful for the support of our fabulous PTO. They have a full slate of activities planned for the upcoming school year which will be shared soon. Information will be forthcoming about what the PTO does and how you can volunteer to help.

Burlington Public Schools Calendar
Please take a moment to review the Burlington Public Schools Calendar for the year. This school year calendar shares important dates that impact our school as well the entire district.

Classroom Safety Protocols
As we start the school year, we will no longer have any social distancing or contact tracing in place. Any student who wishes to wear a mask, will be supported in their choice. Masks will continue to be required in the Nurse’s Office, as it is considered a medical setting.

Absence/Tardy from School
If your child will be absent or tardy for any reason, please call the absent line at 781-273-7638 by 8:30 am that day. Please leave a message including your child’s name, teacher, and reason for absence/tardiness.

Back to School Night
Mark your calendars, as we will be returning to an in-person Back to School Night at Fox Hill on Thursday, September 22. More details will follow.

I hope this information answers any questions you may have about the start of the school year, but if you have any further questions please feel free to reach out. I look forward to a great school year.

Best,

David Rosenblatt
