The Burlington Public Schools' child care programs provide a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for families requiring quality child care for before school, after school, and summer vacation.

Our mission emphasizes creating an atmosphere that balances student learning, enrichment, physical activity, and free time in a stimulating and enjoyable setting. The child care programs offered by the Burlington Schools provide parents with safe, convenient, reliable, and affordable out-of-school time care for their children.

The programs maintain clear policies and procedures and actively encourage and welcome open communication and parent involvement.

2026/2027 Hours & Days of Operation

Before School Program hours are 7:05 AM until school start time. The Before School Program follows the same closure schedule below as the After School Program. The Before School Program does not operate on days that the After School Program operates 7:30-6:00. If there is a snow delay, the Before School Program is cancelled. If school is canceled or closed, both Before & After School Programs are closed.

The closing date/last day of both school year programs, and the opening date of Summer Central, is dependent on the number of snow days used during the school year.

After School Program

August 2026

  • August 31, 2026 (Monday) — First Day of School for Grades 1-8 — Open until 6:00

September 2026

  • September 4, 2026 (Friday) — CLOSED

  • September 7, 2026 (Monday) — Labor Day — CLOSED

  • September 8, 2026 (Tuesday) — First Day of School for Kindergarten — Open until 6:00

October 2026

  • October 12, 2026 (Monday) — Holiday School Closure — CLOSED

November 2026

  • November 3, 2026 (Tuesday) — Prof Development FOR AFTER SCHOOL — CLOSED

  • November 11, 2026 (Wednesday) — Veterans Day — CLOSED

  • November 25, 2026 (Wednesday) — Half Day (ASP CLOSES AT 3 PM) — Open from school dismissal until 3:00

  • November 26, 2026 (Thursday) — Thanksgiving — CLOSED

  • November 27, 2026 (Friday) — Day after Thanksgiving — CLOSED

December 2026

  • Dec 24th- 31st- CLOSED — CLOSED

January 2027

  • January 1, 2027 (Friday) — New Year’s Day Observed — CLOSED

  • January 4, 2027 — Open for PD Day 7:30 am to 6:00 pm — Open 7:30-6:00; registration required $55 per day

  • January 18, 2027 (Monday) — Martin Luther King Day — CLOSED

February 2027

  • FEB 16, 2027 - FEB 19, 2027 (Tue-Fri) — February Vacation — Open 7:30-6:00; registration required $55 per day
