Superintendent’s 2025-2026 SMART Goals

Student Learning Goal 1 – Student Learning and Success

Aligned to Strategic Objective 1 of the BPS Strategic Plan

Goal:
The Superintendent will ensure each student is actively engaged with and in their learning through equitable access to high-quality curriculum, instruction, and assessment.

As measured by:
By June 2026, students will demonstrate measurable academic growth in reading and mathematics, as evidenced by district-wide benchmark assessments (e.g., i-Ready, DIBELS 8, or state assessments). Results will also be disaggregated by reporting groups to monitor progress toward equity.

Student Learning Goal 2 – Student and Staff Well-Being
Aligned to Strategic Objective 2 of the BPS Strategic Plan

Goal:
The Superintendent will promote the social and emotional well-being of each student and staff member to foster positive citizenship, resiliency, and sound character.

As measured by:
By June 2026, students and staff will show improvement in favorable responses on the annual School Climate Survey in the areas of emotional safety, belonging, and support, compared to the baseline established in Fall 2025. Data will be disaggregated by reporting groups to ensure equity.

Professional Practice Goal 1 – Engaged Workforce
Aligned to Strategic Objective 3 of the BPS Strategic Plan

Goal:
The Superintendent will cultivate a climate of professionalism, kindness, and sustainable growth by maximizing resources to enhance student achievement and strengthen faculty capacity while maintaining fiscal responsibility.

As measured by:
By June 2026, the district will establish a baseline using “stay surveys” to collect feedback from professional staff regarding positive working conditions.

Professional Practice Goal 2 – Community Engagement and Partnerships/Pathways
Aligned to Strategic Objective 5 of the BPS Strategic Plan

Goal:
The Superintendent will foster strong communication and collaborative partnerships/pathways with all stakeholders to support safety, growth, and college/career readiness.

As measured by:
By June 2026, the district will demonstrate growth in the number and quality of community and business partnerships that enhance student learning pathways (e.g., internships, dual enrollment, and career days). Stakeholder engagement will also be measured through student participation data and analytics from ThoughtExchange.
