Whole school rewards painting extravaganza!

This Mural was placed in our front hallway. Each student and staff member at Memorial School participated in painting a piece of the mural.

NOTES FROM THE NURSE

Mask reminder - please send your student to school with 2 clean and appropriately fitting masks
Now that we are back to school full-time, and with the weather becoming warmer, hydration is very important for your children. Please remember to send a full water bottle with your child everyday.

This is the time of year that many suffer from seasonal allergies. Burlington Public Schools has a protocol to follow during the COVID - 19 pandemic.
The protocol is as follows:

BPS Seasonal Allergy Accommodations during COVID-19

Since a school nurse or doctor can not determine if a staff/student has allergies vs COVID-19, we require a Molecular COVID-19 test. A test is required at the onset of the allergy symptoms, or if symptoms are currently present then prior to the start of starting school, and a doctor's note stating that the provider has evaluated the staff or student and their symptoms are consistent with allergies. This is a requirement in the Fall and Spring season, which is during allergy seasons.

Once the school nurse has evidence of a negative Molecular COVID-19 test and doctor's note indicating a seasonal allergy condition, the staff or parent/guardian of a student are required to sign the below attestation stating that they or their child has chronic nasal congestion, runny nose, or cough that is related to a chronic condition of allergies. By signing they agree to continue daily self-screening for COVID-19 symptoms and if they develop any other symptoms on the list or if they have worsening of symptoms they will stay home or be dismissed home and must get re-tested.

Attestation regarding Seasonal Allergies

I (a staff member) or my child suffers from seasonal allergies with symptom(s) of chronic nasal congestion/runny nose and/or cough. I understand that I (a staff member or the parent/guardian of a student) must continue to monitor for COVID-19 symptoms. If any other COVID-19 symptoms appear or if the nasal congestion/runny nose or cough worsen, then I (a staff member) or my child must stay home or must go home and get retested for COVID-19 via a Molecular test.

This link provides the printable form for your convenience. Please call Mrs. Sakey, the school nurse, if you have any questions. 781-270-1724.

If your child will be absent from school, please call our Absentee Line at 781-273-7649 and leave a message stating the child's name, teacher, and reason for being absent before 8:30 am.

Dropping off your child/children

If you are driving or picking up your child you must go to the front of the building. Drop off begins at 7:55-8:10 when a staff member comes on duty . Please do not drop off your child until a staff member is present. If a staff member is not there (after 8:10) your child is late and you must walk them to the door and inform the office you are dropping them off.
Pick up begins at 2:15 in the front of the building.

Arriving Late or Dismissing Early

If you need to bring your child in late (after 8:10 am) or dismiss them early (before 2:15 pm), please park in the front of the school and ring the bell to inform us you are here. If you need to pick your child up early, please ring the bell and the office will call the classroom to have your child come down.
Again, please be sure to fill out the change of dismissal form by 9:00 a.m if you intend on picking your child up early. You will not be able to pick up your child early without filling this form out or sending a note in with your child in the morning.

Buses

This is a friendly reminder that there will be no students allowed to take other students buses. Only students assigned to the bus should be riding it to and from school.
All riders will be required to wear a mask. Please see Bus Schedules for bus stops and times.

BayState Textile Recycling

The focus of the School Box Program is to spread awareness and educate on the problem of textile waste. A donation box is placed outside of each school in a district generating a rebate based on the weight of donations.

Baystate textile will grade ("triage") the donations to figure out if they can be used best: for export as used clothing, they are all cut into wiping rags and resold to companies through the United States that need wipers to keep their plant and equipment clean, or they are broken down into fiber material. Consumers see this material in items such as carpet padding, insulation, and high tech building material like Trex. For more information see their website http://baystatetextiles.com/
